Hello Everyone... This is Tom from Wheelhouse Band here in Fresno/Clovis. Recently, I answered a Craigslist ad by a person who stated that he or she was a Banjo Player looking to play with a band. The ad was as follows: --- Banjo player looking to help start up band or organized jam (Fresno) Banjo player looking to join or help start up a band or organized jam in triad area. Very experienced. Like most any bluegrass music traditional or progressive. Thanks. --- Being that alternative string players (banjo, mandolin, dobro) are a rare breed of musician, I answered the ad in hopes of auditioning a local person who could be a valuable featured instrumentalist in Wheelhouse. Little did I know that the person posting the ad was heartless, cruel, and disingenuous. The mistake I sadly made was assuming that everyone on this forum was truly interested in connecting with other musicians. Unfortunately, this is not the case. There are individuals on this forum who enjoy laying in wait, mocking and harassing various bands who they perceive as needing to be taken down. And I have noticed that the person who is espousing the sophomoric, sexual, and racist discord seems to have a real problem with country bands. What really makes me sad is that I (Wheelhouse) did not advertise for an alternative string player, or make any bombastic claims of being a rockstar band. I simply kindly replied to a post in which my message contained some information that I wouldn't necessarily want to make public (having to do with COVID and sickness). So I feel betrayed, and very distrustful of anyone on this forum. To whom ever is being so scornful, you might think you are posting in anonymity, but I have confirmed with Craigslist that is not the case. Your IP address and email are visible to CL. If they determine your continued denigration and violation of their Terms of Usage is diminishing their service, they will give you up. If your goal is to disrupt the Fresno Music Community, and lessen your own self-loathing, you are doing a good job. But it just might come back to bite you later, and curtail your future opportunities. Of course, I fully expect you to mock this message because you just don't care about anyone, or anything.
