The YMCA environmental education day is a great way to learn and experience your local environment that the whole family can enjoy. Join the Bonita YMCA at Camp Estero located at 8791 Corkscrew Rd, Estero, FL 33928 (previously known as the Happehatchee Center) for the Riveting River program. The Riveting River Program was made to give the local community an in-depth look at why it is important to maintain a healthy environment. The event will take place in two different areas at Camp Estero. Plant Transecting location: this is where you will identify native and non-native plants, test soil pH, and test percolation. Kayak Launch location: this is where you will conduct a variety of water quality tests in the Estero River such as pH, temperature, salinity, and turbidity. We use this gathered information to track trends in these habiats as well as compare the information to past data. Our goal is to educate you and the local community on the importance of keeping our waterways and habitats clean. This is a FREE event from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday, March 6th. Activities will be outdoors with social distancing measures.
