Homicide Victim Identified In Overnight Shooting: CMPD

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police identified a 22-year-old man shot and killed in a late night shooting in a south Charlotte apartment complex Wednesday night. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers were called to Sharon Crossing Apartments located in the 2000 block of El Verano Circle shortly before 11 p.m. Feb. 17 after a 911 call reported a person was shot in the complex. Officers found Joshua Bennett Fleming, 22, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene by medic, CMPD said. Police have launched an investigation into the homicide, but say they are not looking for a shooter. "Preliminary information shows that the deceased victim and the shooter were known to each other. No suspects are being sought at this time," CMPD said in a statement. CMPD said anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
