We are recruiting Patient Subjects (Ages 60-85) for an upcoming 12 Week Cognitive Nutritional Supplement Study (2 Visits) $120 at completion of Study • Do you feel your memory and thinking is getting worse? • Do you feel your memory and thinking has become worse over the past 2-3 years? • Are you concerned about your decline in memory and thinking? The study is to assess the efficacy of an investigational oral treatment to improve cognitive function, as assessed by Cognitive Tests and Subject Self-Assessment Questionnaires for Cognitive Impairment. Blood sample will be taken to analyze BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor) by certified Phlebotomist or RN at two visits (Baseline and Week 12). REVIEW THE INCLUSION AND EXCLUSION CRITERIA CAREFULLY. A subject may be eligible for enrollment in the study if he/she meets all of the following inclusion criteria: a) Healthy adults (male and female) between 60 and 85 years old b) Residing in independent living accommodation c) Subjective reports of memory or cognitive impairment as measured by answering ‘yes’ to any of the following questions: • Do you feel your memory and thinking is getting worse? • Do you feel your memory and thinking has become worse over the past 2-3 years? • Are you concerned about your decline in memory and thinking? d) A score in a range consistent with memory / cognitive function impairment on a modified Montreal Cognitive Assessment score (MoCA) e) Non-smoker f) BMI between 18 and 35 kg/m2 g) No plan to commence new treatments over the study period You will not be eligible, IF: a) Diagnosis of dementia based on the revised National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer’s Association (NIA/AA) criteria b) Suffering from medical conditions including but not limited to: uncontrolled hypertension; myocardial infarction, unstable or severe cardiovascular disease including angina or congestive heart disease in the last year; bleeding disorders; type I diabetes; glaucoma; chronic renal failure; chronic hepatic disease; severe pulmonary disease; gastrointestinal disease requiring regular use of medications; gallbladder disease/gallstones/biliary disease; neurodegenerative or neurological disease c) Significant psychiatric disorder, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, personality disorder d) History of stroke or seizures or head injury (with loss of consciousness). e) Moderate-to-severe depression or anxiety symptoms as measured by the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale f) Regular medication intake including anti-coagulant drugs, anti-cholinergics, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, steroid medications. g) Change in medication in the last 3 months or expectation to change during the study duration h) Taking vitamins or herbal supplements that are reasonably expected to influence study measures. i) Current or 12-month history of illicit drug abuse j) Alcohol intake greater than 14 standard drinks per week k) Any significant surgeries over the last year.
