The northwest region of Vermont State Parks is seeking a seasonal maintenance worker for the upcoming 2021 park season. This position reports to the Knight Point Maintenance Shop in North Hero. Duties include assisting in routine maintenance and repair of park facilities, performing basic repair of park equipment (e.g. checking fluids, changing belts on mowers), and delivery of equipment, materials, and supplies to various parks within the region. This position also assists with swim water quality monitoring, sampling, and reporting, so a working knowledge of computers and effective written communication skills is greatly preferred. To perform duties, the use of a variety of basic hand and power tools is typical. Duties are performed in a park setting both outdoors and inside buildings. Workers must be able to climb ladders and work in cramped, damp, or poorly ventilated areas. Manual dexterity and strict adherence to safety precautions are needed to operate equipment and use tools. A valid driver’s license is required, and experience towing a trailer is preferred. A working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and/or small equipment repair is a plus; an eagerness to learn is essential.
