HOURS Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 (with possibility of overtime) MISSION Under supervision, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plant equipment, machinery, and related facilities. Maintains a variety of records, participates in special projects, performs general maintenance of building and grounds, and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. Assists in general janitorial duties in order to provide a clean and safe work environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Participates in preventive maintenance program for equipment, machinery and related facilities; maintain preventative maintenance records and schedules and ensure accuracy of records kept. •Identify equipment maintenance needs and performs routine service and repair on air conditioners, furnaces, compressors and other equipment. •Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs to equipment. •Provide a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions. •Ensure and adhere to safe work practices and procedures including but not limited to lockout/tag out rules and regulations. •Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. •Maintains light fixtures (e. g., bulb replacement, fluorescent ballast replacement, etc.). •Maintains exit signs and emergency lighting. •Solicits bids and quotes from vendors. •Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves. •Provides outstanding customer service by efficiently answering customer requests and providing timely resolutions to their issues. •Removes snow from entrances and walkways. •Assembles furniture and other equipment. •Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of company vehicles. •Assist with mail pick up and drop off at the post office. •Backup for janitorial duties—including refuse removal and general cleaning. •May assist with building security and be required to respond to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis. •Other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION •High school diploma or GED supplemented by specialized training in the mechanic trades or a related field. WORK EXPERIENCE •Minimum of 1 years of relevant facilities maintenance experience. SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE •Mechanical and light electrical aptitude. •Ability to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities including the installation, maintenance and repair of equipment. •Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools efficiently. •Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to maintenance work. •Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with peers, management, customers, contractors, and vendors. •Customer service mindset with excellent listening skills. •Attention to detail. •Ability to multi-task to meet scheduling requirements and deadlines. •Strong organizational and time management skills. •Ability to work independently and self-motivate is a must. •Promote and conduct good housekeeping practices. •Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications. PHYSICAL ABILITY •Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs. •Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists. •Ability to bend, reach, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. OTHER •Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record •Possible contact with potentially hazardous chemicals •Contact with human bodily fluids or other potentially hazardous substances possible •Involves outdoor work in extreme weather conditions, both heat and cold •Regular attendance with punctuality •Ability to work well with others •Ability to acquire new skills and to accommodate change in the workplace ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE DESIRE •Associates degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial maintenance a plus. •Experience using and maintaining riding lawn mowers and snow removal equipment. •Forklift certification is a plus. •Must be punctual and good attendance.
