Description
A gathering of like minded, open hearted men, sharing ideas about the challenges we face in 2021. All proceeds go to Fishing the Good Fight. The first rule of man club is — no one talks about being a man. Yet in 2021, men are struggling in ways that we never thought we would. Can you relate? Locked up. Locked in. Shut off. And cut off. This is what so many men have experienced for almost a year with the negative effects just starting to present themselves. - Suicides are at an all time high. - Depression is at an all time high. - Isolation is at an all time high. - Addictions are at an all time high. - Divorce is at an all time high. And communication about ANY of it — is at an all time low. Here is the REAL rule of man club. The one hardly anyone talks about. This rule can immediately save your life if you’re a man or save the life of a man you know. You are not alone. Read that again. You are not alone in your: - Anxiety - Depression - Relationship issues - Addictions - Anger - Confusion We promise you. How do we know? How does an ex Pro MMA fighter, an ex D1 College Football Star, and a current Olympic Weightlifting badass know anything about mental health and masculinity? WE’VE ALL LIVED THE SAME CHALLENGES YOU’RE EXPERIENCING. The only difference is, on March 4th at 5pm, we’re gathering with you at The Denver Barbell Club to break the first rule. (Covid precautions will be in place) We’re going to talk about it all — we’re going to share our own struggles and what we’ve done to live with them and overcome them. We’re going to be real because the stakes are high right now. Please join us for an open hearted evening just for men. Men who are curious about what it means to be a man in these turbulent times. Men who want to be a part of the conversation about how to support themselves, feel safe and be safe for themselves and the people they care about. Participants will walk away with tools they can immediately apply to: — Navigate the emotional challenges of COVID specifically as a man — Become a lighthouse for other people struggling in his life — Create a safe space for his own emotional experience — Defend a choke, Clean & Jerk a barbell, Tackle a quarterback (ok, maybe not these) Stories will be told, laughter will ensue, maybe a tear or two will be shed. All proceeds will be donated to Fishing the Good Fight for Men’s Mental Health Awareness. JOIN US if this speaks to you, please share it if it doesn’t. Our best, Traver Boehm - Founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement Jennings Hester - Founder of Fishing the Good Fight Joey Hoisescu - Founder of the Denver Barbell Club Traver Boehm is the the founder of the UNcivilized Movement, The UNcivilized Nation Men's Community and The UNcivilized Podcast. He is the author of Today I Rise, and Man UNcivilized as well as a two time TEDx speaker, men’s coach and podcaster. Drawing upon an eclectic background ranging from professional bodyguarding and Mixed Martial Arts to Traditional Chinese Medicine and meditation, Traver also teaches people to skillfully use the inevitable pain of their lives as fuel for growth and positive change. In 2016 after losing a pregnancy, his marriage, and his business partnership all within weeks of each other, he created a radical social experiment and spent the next 12 months as if it were his last year to live, aptly naming it “The Year to Live Project.” Highlights of the year include: ** Volunteering with the dying as a hospice worker ** Meditating for 28 days straight in complete isolation and pitch-black darkness in a Guatemalan hut ** Living in the frigid Utah wilderness for a month with only a knife, a water bottle, and a blanket With a passion for people and a unique lens through which to view the human experience, Traver is a highly sought after teacher in the fields of consciousness, relationship, and personal development. When not teaching workshops or radically shifting the way men experience their masculinity, Traver can be found obsessing over a single word in front of his laptop, chasing surf around the globe, and being awful at yoga. Jennings is the Founder and Executive Director of Fishing the Good Fight, a Denver based non-profit leveraging fly fishing to support Men's Mental Health. He played college football at The University of Alabama and was a member of Nick Saban's first signing class in 2007. Since college, he has had a successful career in sales in sports performance, working with many of the top college football programs including Alabama, Texas and LSU. He started struggling with depression and anxiety in high school, which continued to get worse over the coming decade. After finally seeking help, he has learned to manage his illnesses and drastically improve his quality of life. Jennings and Fishing the Good Fight strive to raise awareness and reduce the stigma around men's mental health and provide resources for men in need. Joey Hoisescu owns and operates The Denver Barbell Club as well as a Real Estate company called Rhianon & Joey Properties. He started both businesses and built them from the ground up over the last 5 years. More interestingly, he struggled with depression and bi-polar disorder for a long time without knowing it and without wanting to admit he needed help. He's overjoyed to work with Fishing the Good Fight and Man Uncivilized and really stoked to support men in our community who need help finding relief from mental challenges similar to ones he battles daily.
