SHARON, MA — Sharon officials announced Tuesday that the town's health department did not receive any doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from the state for the second week in a row. Last week, Sharon health officials requested 2,000 doses of the vaccine and was not given any of the requested doses. The week before, they requested 1,000 doses and were only given 100 doses that were administered to the town's oldest residents. "The supply for local health departments is currently low," said a Feb. 7 update from the town. "We are hoping that as the supply increases we will receive at least 100 doses per week." "We know you are frustrated and so are we," it continued. Because the demand for vaccine doses is much greater than the supply, the town is encouraging eligible residents age 75 and older to sign up to receive the vaccine at another location, such as CVS pharmacy locations or the state's mass vaccine sites, until more doses are allocated to the town directly. "The Health Department requested doses for next week and will continue to request each week on behalf of our residents," said the town in an announcement Tuesday.
