NATICK, MA — A regional coronavirus vaccine supersite at the Natick Mall will begin accepting appointments on Thursday ahead of the Feb. 22 opening date, according to state officials. The Natick Mall site will initially have room for about 500 people per day, but may grow to accommodate up to 3,000 per day in the coming weeks. You can start looking for appointments Thursday morning on the state's vaccine website. Unlike vaccine clinics held by the Natick Health Department, the mall supersite will be open to any resident from across the state, similar to other supersites at Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium and the site that opened Tuesday at Worcester State University. Also beginning Thursday, the state will allow two new groups to get vaccines: people over age 65, and people with two or more special medical conditions. Those groups will bring about 1 million more residents into the vaccine pool. However, Gov. Charlie Baker said Wednesday it may take up to a month to work through the 1 million new eligible residents, plus the remaining people over age 75 eligible for the vaccine.
