MELROSE, MA — It's unknown how many more coronavirus vaccination clinics Melrose will be able to host after the state announced changes to its beleaguered rollout. State officials told most boards of health Wednesday they won't be getting vaccine doses for clinics that are only for local residents. The change takes effect March 1. The state said the change is to streamline the vaccination process and increase capacity at the larger vaccination locations, including mass vaccination sites, regional collaboratives and pharmacies. "Our goal is to build more efficient vaccination sites regionally that can vaccinate people more quickly," Gov. Charlie Baker said. Melrose hosted a clinic Wednesday for city residents 75 and older at Memorial Hall. The city will receive enough second doses to vaccinate people who already received the first shot. Massachusetts residents 65 and older and those with 2 or more certain health concerns can begin making vaccination appointments Thursday.
