Dedham Asks Gov. Baker For Additional Coronavirus Vaccines

DEDHAM, MA — Dedham officials penned a letter to Governor Charlie Baker on Wednesday asking for additional supply of the COVID-19 vaccine. On Feb. 6 the town led a vaccine clinic for residents ages 75 and older and gave the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to 400 Dedham residents. The town said it's equipped to hold more vaccination events if it gets with enough supply from the state. The letter is signed by Dennis J. Teehan, Jr., Chair of the Select Board, and Leanne M. Jasset, Chair of the Board of Health. In a press conference on Wednesday, Baker signaled the state will move more supply toward regional, collaborative groups as well as mass vaccination sites, rather than local "town only" clinics. "You've got to deliver on the volume requirements here. Larger enterprises can deliver a heck of a lot more vaccines more quickly, which is really important," Baker said.
