MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Because the nationwide winter storm has affected coronavirus vaccine deliveries to Florida, Manatee County was forced to reschedule 5,100 vaccination appointments originally set for Thursday and Friday at Tom Bennett Park. These appointments have been moved to Feb. 25 and 26, the county said in a news release. The Public Safety Department will send automated notifications to the individuals whose appointments are rescheduled. The 3,000 Lakewood Ranch vaccine appointments scheduled Wednesday through Friday at Premier Sports Campus will move forward as planned, Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a news conference at the campus. The event, hosted by the Florida Division of Emergency Management, targets only residents living in zip codes 34202 and 34211. Like what you're reading? The doses being administered at PSC this week are the Pfizer-brand vaccine, which hasn't been affected by the winter storm, the governor said. The Moderna vaccines that were to be administered at Bennett Park were delayed due to the bad weather.
