Built in 1842 by Judge Josephus and Katherine Blackmore Guild. The name "Rose Mont" references the once extensive rose garden at the north side of the house. Originally, Rose Mont was a working thoroughbred horse and longhorn cattle farm of 500 acres. After Judge Guild's death, Rose Mont and sixty-five acres passed to his daughter-in-law Bettie Alexander Guild who outlived her husband, Walter Guild. In 1993, Joan Conn (wife of Jo Conn who was the son of Lewis Cass) sold the house to the Rose Mont Restoration Foundation, Inc. for the preservation and historical interpretation. It is now owned by the City of Gallatin. But, is it haunted? Many who have visited Rose Mont, left with a story to tell. Many have claimed to have seen toys move on their own. Others have seen a mysterious figure roam throughout Rose Mont, have heard disembodied voices inside the home, and others believe to have seen "Willie". Willie is a three year old spirit that many believe resides at Rosemont that enjoys playing with the toys in the house. That evening, you will not be alone investigating this 179 year old former home.
