TRUMBULL, CT — Vazzy's restaurant owner John Vazzano was arrested Wednesday after he was accused of offering a bribe in order to avoid a sexual assault investigation against two employees, according to the State Attorney's office. A relative of a former employee of the restaurant reported sexual assault and harassment around November or December 2019, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Vazzano, 58, of Trumbull was arrested by inspectors from the Office of the Chief State's Attorney office. He also misled state and federal officials about the whereabouts of the two employees, according to the State Attorney's office. Police arrested longtime Vazzy's dishwasher Jaime Sena a year ago, according to the Connecticut Post. He was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old hostess; another employee was accused of similar behavior, but wasn't identified by police. Vazzano's lawyer at the time told the Post that Vazzano cooperated with police and terminated both employees. Sena's criminal case is pending; he was charged with third-degree sexual assault and second-degree unlawful restraint . He hasn't made a plea in the case, according to court records. Vazzano is charged with bribery of a witness, third-degree hindering prosecution and interfering with police. Vazzano surrendered to Rocky Hill police and was released on a $50,000 bond. He is due to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Feb. 25.
