LINDENHURST, NY— Lindenhurst has a new, healthy option: a low-calorie, protein-packed smoothie shop. Even the name sounds healthy—El Nuevo Healthy Spot opened in November at 411 40th Street, just off Sunrise Highway. Stephanie Gomez and her husband Alexander are Lindenhurst residents who've been long-time smoothie and shake enthusiasts but this is their first storefront. The couple use Herbalife products and add the products to the smoothies at their shop. "It's a high-quality protein and they've been in the market for over 40 years," Stephanie Gomez told Patch. For now El Nuevo Healthy Spot is focusing mainly on smoothies, instead of food. Each smoothie has 200 calories, 24G protein and a small amount of sugar and come in flavors like Oreo and Coffee Toffee. As the business owners say on their Facebook page, the store's "purpose is to make the world happier and healthier." Hours are Monday to Thursday, 7 a. m. to 8 p. m. and weekends 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
