5 New Haven Residents Indicted In Crack Dealing Case: Feds

NEW HAVEN, CT — Five New Haven residents have been charged with federal drug crimes related to dealing crack cocaine, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. The five residents were arrested Jan. 26. In the investigation, police found about 300 grams of crack and packaging, 50 grams of heroin and packaging, 100 grams of cocaine and packaging, and more than $17,000 in cash. The case is related to a joint federal and New Haven police investigation. A 14-count indictment charged the following people: Jerry Rollins, aka "Prank, 36; Benita Flemming, 33, and Orlando Moore, 49. An eight-count indictment charged Devaro Taylor, 30, and Tashaun Fair, 27. Each person is being charged with conspiracy to distribute, and to possess with intent to distribute, 28 grams or more of cocaine base ("crack"). This charge carries a minimum prison term of five years and a maximum prison term of 40 years. Rollins and Taylor are also charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, cocaine base. In addition, all are being charged with one or more counts of use of a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking felony.
