HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Harford County Public Schools will be closed Thursday in anticipation of inclement weather, officials announced Wednesday.
Virtual learning is canceled Thursday, Feb. 18.
Technology hubs, all school buildings and school offices will also be closed Thursday, officials said.
Meal kits that were to be distributed Friday will instead be given out Monday, Feb. 22, according to authorities.
The National Weather Service placed Harford County under a winter storm warning from 3 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. Parts of the county could see up to 8 inches of snow and ice that may make travel dangerous.
School system officials said they made the decision to close "in anticipation of power outages that would disrupt instruction, and to ensure the safety of our staff."
Essential personnel will receive instructions from their supervisors, authorities advised.
