Veteran WPXI-TV Reporter Retires, Will Run For Office

PITTSBURGH, PA — Longtime WPXI-TV reporter Amy Marcinkiewicz has retired from the station to run for public office. Marcinkiewicz, who was the Beaver and Butler County bureau chief for the station, made the announcement on social media. It's been a busy week," she posted on Facebook. "After more than 25 years, I retired from WPXI. What a wonderful career I had covering Butler County, the place I call home. I am now going all in to serve my community in a different way. I am excited to announce my candidacy for Magisterial District Judge in Evans City. " That magisterial district covers the townships of Adams, Connoquenessing, Forward, Jackson, Lancaster and the boroughs of Callery, Connoquenessing, Evans City, Harmony, Mars, Valencia, and Zelienople. According to the WPXI website, the St. Louis native began her broadcasting career as an anchor and reporter for KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO. She then went to work at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, WV, where she anchored the news. Marcinkiewicz then served as host of the magazine show Midday El Paso at KDBC-TV in El Paso, TX and anchored the news at KSHB-TV in Kansas City, MO before arriving at WPXI in 1995. Marcinkiewicz has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
