re: Turbines

Thanks for the info - upon reading I see that is indeed correct that much of TX is serviced by electric heat. In thermodynamics we learned that gas heat was more efficient than electric, even when counting out the powerplant efficiency and line loss...but I forget the reason now. Something something convection I'm guessing. I still say the reasons for TX problems are multifactorial. The original post that I was replying to said "Trump was right!", contained conservatives' favorite pet names for the people they don't like, and had a bunch of pictures of turbines, implying that they were the sole cause of the disaster (despite other conventional and nuclear plants also going offline as well, and about half of TX windmills still operating). I don't think you can pretend to be objective after that. Seemed to me - like the all too familiar obsession with windmills. It really seems like an open and shut case of "people who don't like windmills blame windmills". Take the R and D out of it, and it's still the same. People on here are so obsessed with partisanship it makes them blind. I misspoke in my original post (re-reading it now), I made it sound like I was blaming R's, but that's not my intention. But I really don't give a shit where you think I stand on the political spectrum. Just for kicks. I think Nuclear is the best option. People just gotta stop that NIMBY behavior. Let's start building them (no joke/sarcasm here, I'm serious). Maybe start doing R&D for the next generation reactors, which are supposed to be better. Public acceptance would make it safer, as innovation in that field could commence. Instead of relying on old tech.
