CHARLOTTE, NC — An overnight blaze that displaced 30 people from their homes and caused an estimated $276,000 in damages in a South Charlotte condominium complex was started by a juvenile playing with fire, Charlotte Fire Department officials said Wednesday morning. Firefighters reported heavy fire showing when they arrived at the complex located in the 2000 block of Stoney Point Drive shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. About 40 firefighters responded to the call and found "flames shooting from the building," when they arrived at the scene, WSOC reported. The blaze affected seven homes, and displaced 19 adults and 11 children, the station said. The Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced, Charlotte Fire said.
