ATLANTA — Police have charged an Atlanta man with murder in connection with death of his 6-month-old stepdaughter.
Demarcus Dobbs, 22, was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly causing the infant's death, according to police reports.
Officers along with emergency responders were called to an apartment in the 600 block of Boulevard in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood around 3 p.m. on Monday, police said. They were responding to a report that the infant living there had stopped breathing.
EMS and Atlanta Fire & Rescue crews attempted to revive the child, and transported her to Emory Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital where she died, according to police reports.
Investigators at the home found Dobbs and the child's mother and questioned them as part of the probe. Upon further inspection, Dobbs was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of cruelty to children.
He is being held at the Fulton County jail.
