If you are young and hope to become a successful woman bowler, or if your women’s team is seeking a top bowler, go to Nebraska. That is where the best lady bowlers have tallied championships for more than 20 years. Under Coach Bill Straub, women from around the country—no, around the world—participate in this successful program at the University of Nebraska. The walls of the practice facility are filled with the photos of 75 All-Americans. Eight of them were selected as national collegiate bowlers of the year. The story about Bill’s arrival at the school and his bowling metrics are featured in my blog. Though he recently retired, you’ll also learn about the teaching methods he used that relied on basketball and golf coaches, and the kind of young lady bowler that he identified for future success.
