Loving intelligent 2.5 yo Border Collie / Pyrenees

Description
Please read all of this before responding. It is with a very heavy heart that I am offering up my 2.5 year old male Border Collie / Pyrenees mix Klaus for adoption. The short version of the story is that I just cannot give him the physical and mental stimulation he deserves or needs. To be 100% upfront about what is going on, his downsides are that he is scared and defensive with kids indoors only (outside is no issue), but he has shown himself able to warm up to kids once he gets to know them and gets used to them. He also, after a very stressful week, lashed out at the owner of a local boarding/daycare business and attempted to bite her hand. He has never shown issues with adults before, and I know it was a particularly stressful week for him, and he lashed out due to this. He has been going to this daycare for almost his entire life, and has spent probably close to 75 total days in that same facility. There is much more to the story, but the short version is that he will be much happier and mentally healthier in a better living situation than what I can offer him. He needs a home environment where his physical and mental needs can be met. A ranch, a person who can take him on LONG hikes OFTEN (not just 30 minutes at a dog park), or something else where he can be around people and be outside and busy a LOT. I just don’t have the lifestyle to meet these needs. Here is the good about him: He is incredibly smart and well trained. No chewing or destruction, no scratching at walls, doors, etc. Phenomenal trail and off-leash dog. He has, up until the one incident described above, never shown any kind of aggression like that before. He is a very loving, snuggly, caring dog. He is also a very sensitive boy. He does not do well with chaotic situations, or loud and angry people. He has no major health issues of any kind and no past injuries. He is chipped and is up to date on his shots. He is great with other dogs, and pretty good with cats. If they run, he chases them. If they are calm, he could care less. No aggression with other dogs or cats ever. He would come with the following items: Dog bed, Ruffwear winter jacket and booties, light up collar, e-collar, food, treats, toys, leash, harness (which he hates), and a bunch of other random supplies. Everything needed to provide for him. I will be vetting potential adopters, since I am reluctantly giving him up for adoption and want him to go to a truly good home. So please tell me about your lifestyle and home. I would ideally like to visit any potential new home for him to make sure he isn’t going to some terrible place. I would like to negotiate a small adoption fee, preferably in the form of a donation to HOV or something similar. If you read all of this, please put “Klaus Haus” in the subject line of your email. Thank you.
