Maintenance Technicians – Meter Services Water Management; Water & Sewer Maintenance Division A138: Hiring range: 37,419.20 We have vacancies for Maintenance Techs in Meter Services within the Water & Sewer Maintenance Division of Water Management. Meter Services installs and repairs water meters, diagnoses and repairs small leaks, replaces meter boxes and setters, and tests large meters. This work unit also works closely with Customer Billing Services to provide new service connections, service disconnections, and monthly automated meter reading. Successful candidates must be able to operate or learn to operate the tools and equipment required for the position. This job works during all types of weather. Overtime is required when needed or when responding to emergencies. This role participates in the scheduled rotation for Stand-by/Recall duty throughout the year. For Stand-by/Recall duty, you can expect to cross train in the various workgroups listed below: • Excavation: Maintains pipelines, installing new services, hydrants, valves, manholes and meters • Distribution Systems: Repairs and maintain valves and fire hydrants used for water distribution • Collection Systems: Assists with closed circuit television inspections of water & sewer lines, flush truck operations and sanitary sewer overflow response • Outfall Maintenance: Clears easements and assists with manhole repairs and inspections also respond to sanitary sewer system overflows Requirements: • HS Diploma or equivalent • Minimum 2 years of experience in trades, field position, or equipment operation; municipal or water & sewer authority preferred • Valid NC Class C Driver’s License Preferred Qualifications; • B-CDL • 1 year of trade/vocational education • OSHA Trenching/Shoring & Competent Person certifications or required w/in 1 yr. of hire • Ability to regularly lift 20 lbs or more Enjoy our benefits: Health, dental, life, vision, 401(K), (457), retirement, flex spending accounts, EAP, and generous annual/holiday leave.
