Job Description Pono Pacific Land Management, LLC was founded with a vision of helping Hawai‘i’s conservation agencies and landowners. Since 2000, we have been providing specialized services to a wide variety of clients in almost every ecosystem in Hawaiʻi, primarily including: · Native habitat restoration and landscape maintenance · Invasive species eradication · Ungulate-proof/predator-proof fence construction · Predator and ungulate control · Trail construction & maintenance We are currently seeking applicants for the Field Technician position on Kauaʻi. A Part Time Field Technician carries out general conservation field work under close supervision by a Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule similar to an “on-call” availability. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS · Valid driver's license and a clean driving record · Reliable vehicle or other reliable form of transportation · Ability to read, write, and understand (English) equipment and product labels for safety · Positive attitude and willingness to learn · Follow directions while working in small groups or independently · Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality · Maintain excellent communication, verbal and written (English) · Willing and able to perform physically challenging work in harsh conditions for 8-10 hours a day · Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds · Ability to pass a background check and/or gain military base access clearance · Ability to camp in remote areas for multiple days at a time and/or travel occasionally PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Tree felling experience · Interest in preserving Hawaiʻi’s native plants, animals, and ecosystems · Familiarity with both native and invasive species identification · Familiarity operating power tools such as chainsaws, weed trimmers, etc. · State of Hawaiʻi Pesticide Applicator license · Experience operating/working with machinery (excavator, skid steer, etc.) · Helicopter (passenger) experience SCHEDULE · Part Time (30-40 hours per week, largely dependent upon weather and projects). This position requires a flexible schedule. Needs the ability to work 1-2+ weeks at a time, and be down from work for similar times.
