SUDBURY, MA — The filing period for the 2021 Sudbury town election closed on Feb. 8, which means the slate of candidates running in the March 29 election has been finalized. The 2021 election features three competitive races: Sudbury Select Board, the Sudbury School Committee and the Goodnow Library Board of Trustees. Sudbury School Committee member Lisa Kouchakdjian is vying for one of two seats up for election on the Select Board. But Kouchakdjian is up against incumbents Dan Carty and Janie Dretler, who are both running to keep their seats. Kouchakdjian running for Select Board means there is an open seat on the School Committee. Incumbent Silvia Nerssessian is running to keep her seat, but newcomers Mandy Sim and Tyler Steffey are competing for the opening. There also may be an interesting race for the Planning Board. There are two seats up for election in 2021, but only one person filed to run. That leaves room for a write-in candidate to be elected. The League of Women Voters of Sudbury will host a series of candidate forums for contested races. For the Planning Board race, the League will include any write-in candidate who sends written notification to the Town Clerk of their intent to run by Feb. 23. Here are the candidates who returned filing papers to the town clerk by the Feb. 8 deadline: Select Board (2 seats) Dan Carty (i)Janie Dretler (i)Lisa Kouchakdjian Sudbury School Committee (2 seats) Silvia Nerssessian (i)Mandy SimTyler Steffey Goodnow Library Board of Trustees (2 seats) Marie Royea (i)Lily Gordon (i)Natalie Schlegel Lincoln-Sudbury School Committee (2 seats) Mary Warzynski (Sudbury)Heather Cowap Salemme (Lincoln) Park and Recreation Commission (2 seats) Laurie EliasonRobert Beagan (i) Board of Health (1 seat) Linda Huet-Clayton (i) Planning Board (2 seats) Steve Garvin (i)Open seat Board of Assessors (1 seat) Joshua Fox (i) Moderator (1 seat) Catharine V.
