ISLIP, NY — Long Island's MacArthur Airport recently made USA Today's top 10 list of the Best Small Airports in the country for the second year in a row. The Islip airport came in fourth during the 2021 Best Readers' Choice Awards. "The Long Island community really came together to support us, and we are so grateful," MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken said. "We were honored when an independent panel of travel experts nominated MacArthur Airport and 14 other airports as friendlier and easier to use. Today, we celebrate a win for Long Island and our loyal MacArthur Airport customers." The top ten winners in the Best Small Airport category include: 1. Myrtle Beach International Airport2. Since then, the facility has undergone some transformations including upgrading the taxiways and apron areas, opening the first new hangar in 20 years, and working on a new Ground Vehicle Transportation Center.
