Join us for our first ever Mario Kart tournament and enjoy some great food and craft beer while you do it! We are excited to host our very first Mario Kart tournament in the lower level at Norse Brewing Company. We will be playing on the Nintendo Switch and you are allowed to bring your own controller. Please see guidelines for the tournament below. Registration kicks off at 3 PM and tournament will begin promptly at 4 PM. $100 Cash Prize for 1st Place $25 Norse Gift Card for 2nd Place & 3rd Place Reach out to [email protected] for any questions. **This is not an official Mario Kart tournament, and intende door fun, not all standard Mario Kart Tournaments will be followed** **All current COVID 19 guidelines will be adhered too** Mario Kart Wii Tournament Information and Rules When you arrive at the tournament, you must check in with the tournament organizers.Tournament sign-in will be open from approximately 3 PMAll players may remain for the entire tournament. Cheer your friends to victory!Trash talking is allowed, but no swearing or bad behavior.The tournament may end early.Tournament rules Players may pick any character. Players also may switch characters between matches.Races will all be run as VS.There are four available cups with 4 courses each for the tournament. The cups and courses will be randomly selected for each match. Available cups: Flower, Banana, Shell and Mushroom.There will be three qualifying rounds. Qualifying rounds will be 3 or 4-player racesPlayers will go into the game’s sudden death matches if tied at the end of a race.Players will be assigned numbers at registration and will be matched randomly.Players 5 or more minutes late to any round will automatically take a game loss.During qualifying rounds, players will earn points based on how they finish (40 for1st place, 30 for 2nd place, etc). At the end of the 3 qualifying rounds, players with the top 16 scores will advance to the elimination rounds. If we are running behind, or if we begin with less than 16 players, only the top 8 players will advance.If multiple players are tied at the end of the qualification rounds, tiebreaker match(es) will be held. Tiebreaker matches will follow the same rules as the qualifying round matches.Final rounds will be two players versus each other, seeded single bracket elimination. Seeding will be done based on qualifying round scores.The scorekeeper will determine when a match begins.When a match is ended, players must leave the score screen up for the scorekeeper to record the results. Passing this screen will invalidate the match and all players forfeit.All normal Mario Kart play is allowed, including using short cuts and teaming up.Tournament organizers have the final say in all decisions.
