NAUGATUCK, CT — A 30-year-old New Haven woman had an illegal firearm, crack cocaine and heroin in her possession Sunday during a Naugatuck police investigation into a crash she was involved in, according to authorities. Shannon Mosca, of Ferry Street, was arrested and charged with a host of narcotics and weapons violations after the department's drug detection dog "Judge" sniffed out 61 grams of crack and 100 bags of heroin in her vehicle. The firearm in her possession "had an obliterated serial number," Naugatuck police said. Mosca had crashed into the Cherry Street Market building at about 7:15 a.m. and walked away from the scene, according to police. No injuries were reported. See the video below. She was found a short while later in the parking lot of the Portuguese Club on Rubber Avenue. Among the charges Mosca faces include carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal alteration of a firearm, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, evading responsibility and failure to drive in the proper lane. "The officers involved in this investigation should be commended for their hard work as the Naugatuck Police Department remains committed to the elimination of these harmful narcotics and illegal firearms from the streets of our community," authorities said. Mosca was held in lieu of bail of $100,000, and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 31.
