Feds Reward For Yale Homicide Person Of Interest Now $10K

NEW HAVEN, CT — A week after offering a reward, federal agents have upped the ante. The U.S. Marshals are now offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the location and arrest of a Massachusetts man named as a-person-of-interest in the murder of a Yale student. Qinxuan Pan, 29, is being sought by authorities for questioning in the case surrounding the Feb. 6 killing of Yale University graduate student Kevin Jiang. Jiang, 26, of West Haven, was found shot to death in New Haven in the East Rock neighborhood on Lawrence Street between Nash and Nicoll streets at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Read more here. There's currently a warrant for Pan's arrest for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and interstate theft of a vehicle, according to both the New Haven Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service. New Haven Police Department Chief Otoniel Reyes said last week that Pan is not a "suspect at this time but a person of interest; I'm not saying he's the shooter at this point." Both Reyes and the US Marshals Service described Pan as armed and dangerous, with Reyes noting anyone who encounters him should use "extreme caution." Last week, federal marshals said Pan could "possibly be staying with friends or family" in the Duluth or Brookhaven areas of Georgia adding at the time he was seen driving with family members in Brookhaven or Duluth, Georgia. According to family, Pan was carrying a black backpack and was acting strange, the US Marshals reported. Pan is Asian, 6-feet, 170 pounds with a medium complexion and short black hair, the US Marshals Service said. Anyone with information should contact the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-Wanted-2 (1-877-926-8332), and any information will be considered confidential, the fugitive task force noted in a media release. Pan should be considered armed and dangerous, the statement reads, and people should "not attempt to apprehend him themselves."
