HOBOKEN, NJ — After a weekend ice storm caused 18,000 New Jersey residents to lose power, a transformer explosion near 14th Street and Park Avenue in Hoboken on Tuesday morning caused more power outages and road closures. Crews were still working after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, while CVS and the gym next door were temporarily closed.

Meanwhile, forecasters are also predicting sleet and snow with an accumulation of 3-6 inches for Thursday afternoon into early the next morning.

A separate transformer fire on 11th Street in Hoboken had caused a power loss for about an hour in portions of the city Monday night.
