Press release from the City of Peoria: Slick, snow covered roads and limited traction – that's what drivers should expect to face during their morning commute. Peoria Public Works has opened all primary roads, hill routes and overpasses. While roads are passable, drivers should continue to take it slow and easy. Residential Side Streets Beginning at 7 a.m. today, Snow Fighters will make their way down our residential side streets to begin plowing the roads less traveled per standards outlined in the Snow and Ice Control Plan. It could take crews as long as 36 to 48 hours to complete. A Hazardous Weather Outlook is still in place today for the city of Peoria, Tuesday, February 16. That weather outlook means hazardous travel conditions, plus the potential for blowing and drifting snow that can add to whiteout conditions. If you must venture out, be sure to bundle up in multiple layers as bitterly cold wind chills as low as 15 degrees below zero (-15) will continue this morning.
