Range Technician Hours: Monday-Thursday 6:30am-4:00pm, off every other Friday Location: Off Hwy. 331 just south of I-10 Performs test set-ups at the Rockhill facility from engineering test plans as well as other duties as required (i.e. range maintenance, inspections) Discernment of instrumentation capability, certification of equipment, design electronic wiring instructions for various test set-ups, trouble-shoot and repair electronic problems. Provide electronic support for various test setups that relate primarily to electronic wiring and instrumentation, and trouble-shooting and repair of electronic problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains in-depth knowledge of electronic instrumentation in order to trouble-shoot and repair electronic instrumentation and equipment. Interprets and adheres to test plans in designing electronic instrumentation. Retrieves and organizes test data for the test engineer as required. Maintains skills associated with cameras, radiography, etc as required. Build test and warhead stands. Precision positioning of targets. Assist in data recovery including scoring panels and fragment recovery from celotex. Assembly of test ordnance, run test leads, and prepare instrumentation set up as defined by test plans. Assist with high-speed camera set-up and operations. Assist with electronic troubleshooting. May be required to operate heavy equipment at various times. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. Physical Demands and Work Environment Drug-free workplace. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Needs 1-3 years related experience or training but if no range technician training, they will accept experience with carpentry, heavy equipment operator, electronics or explosive experience although this position does not work with explosives Work on buildup of arenas, involves lots of cleanup as the tests create a real big mess, cleaning buildings, cleaning burn testing sites, buildup in the workshops if experienced at carpentry building tables, etc. Needs to bring own PPE safety-toed boots (steel-toed is not necessary) and safety glasses if they have them but safety glasses can also be provided, along with gloves and hard hats.
