Hello! I am a professional pastry chef. I have been unemployed for a year and am now sadly living in my car. The I.R.S just sent me yet another letter saying I owe them 3,000$ from my 2017 return. I told them I am living in my car and don't see a decent job appearing any time soon. They still insist I must pay them by March 1st!!!!! They said I claimed an education credit. I hadn't attended school in twenty years. Wouldn't I have to show Proof that I took a course to get the credit? Two people told me the same thing happened to them. They hired a C.P.A. and the cpa found that the IRS actually owed THEM! I cannot afford a cpa I think. I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
