Description
I'm not going to sugar coat this, a mentally ill and I have a lot of animals and I can't take care of them all by myself. Getting a divorce from abusive husband so it's just me, I have dogs, reptiles, and birds. The Ferrets are the highest maintenance most difficult pets I've ever had. Their double level ferretation cage & accessories come with them. Why are they free? 1. Expenses. Not up to date on shots, they are living inside of the house and my dogs are always up to date on their shots, so I don't have any other animals here that they can catch any diseases from. My dog's vet doesn't treat ferrets, my soon-to-be ex took them to an exotic vet to get their shots years ago (he doesn't live here anymore) I don't have a car so I have not been able to get them their shots in probably 2 years. 2. These are the dirtiest animals I've ever seen in my life. They press their anuses against the cage bars and just haul off and plop feces straight onto the floor and my dogs keep trying to (and successful) eat it, it's been like 5 years of me constantly saying " no guys! Get back! Let me clean it up!!!" For the life of me they have five litter boxes in there that have to be cleaned daily yet they still prop their booties up against the cage and squeeze out fresh hot turds that flop straight onto the floor and it's making me extremely sick I can't do it anymore. 3. They bite, only one doesn't bite me but I can't guarantee that he wouldn't bite somebody else. I don't have any friends so I don't have people coming over handling them it's just me. Two of them kind-of play bite, one still tests her boundaries and tries to bite too hard to see what you're going to do about it, but she hasn't drawn blood or anything. One of them, on the other hand, bites really really bad she's always bitten ever since she was a baby and she's bitten for years...she shows no signs of stopping. I got three ferret books and did what they told me to do on how to get ferrets to stop biting and hey guess what? She doesn't stop biting 😑 She can and will draw blood. *She WILL hurt children, don't let kids play with her!* She gets along with the other ferrets most of the time but when they play I can tell she bites them too hard and sometimes out a little squeal. She doesn't attack them or anything I've never had to break her up from any of the other ferrets, I've also checked the other ones to make sure they weren't bleeding while they're playing because she does bite way too hard when she gets excited. So far in all the years she hasn't drawn blood on any of the ferrets.... just me and anybody else who's picked her up. (Husband, neighbors) One male & female are older than the other male & female. I can't remember dates and times well, I'm missing big spaces of my memory of the past several years so I don't remember exactly how old any of them are. Two of them are anywhere up to four years old and the older two are over 5 years old I think.... 5 years old is a safe guess. You can tell they are visibly older than the other two, their coats are duller more wirey, thinner bodies, and the hair on their tail has been thin for over a year. I know it's not their diet because the other two younger ferrets are quite plump and have very pretty full coats. If you are willing to take these ferrets understand how high maintenance and how expensive they are. That's why they are free they are expensive to keep and the costs just keep going up. Even though I cleaned their litter boxes everyday they still defecate all over the fleece liner top pan in their cage, they're supposed to be washable but not with these guys. The bottom fleece liner they don't poop on but the top level they just go to town on that they don't care about litter boxes or anything 😑 The fleece liner's going to need to be replaced once a week they cost $10 so you're looking at $40 a month just on cage liners. I feed them epigen 90 ferret food digestive support, it can be ordered off Amazon, that's one of the best ferret foods out there. I tried feeding them cheaper food but it makes their hair fall out and itch all the time, so they need high quality food! (Corn/grains are very bad for them!) They also eat the epigen canned foods but only as a treat. Soft canned foods will give ferrets diarrhea if you give them too much, there's not enough fiber in it. They eat A LOT of food, lot's and lots of food. The eating and the pooping is literally eating & shitting me out of house and home. I probably sound really mean and heartless in this post, but I don't want anybody to be burdened by these ferrets because they didn't know what they were in-for taking them home. Please keep this in mind: they will always stink, they make constant messes that have to be cleaned up daily, they will always bite, and they will always be expensive. Now that that's out of the way, they are extremely playful and affectionate they will take all of the attention you give them. They're so friendly that they'll even kind of bash themselves against the Cage when I walk by until I open the door scoop them out and play with them. They absolutely love being played with all the time, if they could talk they would probably scream "play play play!" every time they saw somebody in the room. I have them in my living room **a high traffic area** and yet they still act like no one's ever paid any attention to them in their life. I take them out and play with them every single day but they're always ready for more, i they have too many other animals and I'm on the verge of neglecting them because the ferrets won't give me any time to clean and care for everyone else. If you don't want the cage or any accessories and don't want all four ferrets... I will not let anyone take any less than two of them together unless you already have one or more ferrets at home. Ferrets like friends and one would be extremely lonely and depressed by itself especially since they were raised together. The two oldest ones are siblings, the younger two are different ages and not related. They were all introduced to each other extremely well and nobody got into a squabble (the only problem was the one that likes to bite too hard when playing). I assume they could be introduced to other ferrets as well too if they needed to be separated. My oldest male is extremely friendly and gentle with baby ferrets and other animals in general, he gives little licks and kisses instead of bites. Despite how negative this post is I do love the ferrets and I will miss cuddling them, they are very cute funny and have extremely unique personalities. Not a single one of them is like the other, they're like completely different species of animals in their personalities. I have like 15 other pets, I can't keep on top of cleaning and feeding them anymore and it's not fair to them. They need to go somewhere where they can have somebody physically and mentally able to take care of them every single day. Will send pictures of ferrets, accessories, cage, upon request. No hidden fees or charges. I don't have an automobile so you're going to have to bring your own travel accessories and vehicle large enough to take the cage. Everything about it will be a hassle on your end, again that's why this is all free. Sure you can get the ferrets and all their stuff for free but you're going to have to do all the work to take them home with you 😉 Email me for my # to text and recieve pics, or just communicate through email, whichever... I'm sure I can figure out how to send image files through email 😅 *I'll try at least lol, I'm getting old*
