Jelly's Place is a nonprofit animal rescue and no-kill shelter located in San Pablo. We are hiring part or full-time animal care assistants to help at our shelter. Work hours are available 9am to 5:30pm Sunday to Saturday. Work shifts are flexible. Join our dynamic team of animal lovers. Animal Care Assistants are responsible for the daily cleaning and maintaining of animal living quarters, including buildings and kennels, completing animal feeding shifts, assisting with basic medical care for the animal residents, as well as many miscellaneous tasks such as laundry, restocking supplies, grooming animals, and showing animals to the public. Qualifications • Passionate about working for and with animals • Keen interest in the animal welfare/rights movement is encouraged • Patient and able to maintain composure in stressful situations • Reliable and dependable • Good animal behavior and observation skills • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including cold/wet weather • Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform strenuous/manual labor • Ability to work well with a variety of people • Strong communication and listening skills • Ability and willingness to follow detailed instructions and meet time sensitive demands • Ability to learn and process new information quickly • Team player and self-motivator, comfortable working on own • Committed to Jelly's Place's mission and a desire to be a part of the Jelly's Place family • Willing to work on weekend/holidays/varying shift times • Valid driver's license and good driving record (subject to verification) Basic Job Duties • Daily cleaning duties and maintaining the shelter areas • Re-stocking supplies • Completing animal feeding shifts • Assisting with basic animal health care • Monitoring animals and reporting animal health concerns directly to Shelter Manager and/or Director Walking and playing with dogs as time permits • Assisting with volunteers Email a resume and cover letter.
