Description
Looking for volunteers to help in a collaborative effort to bring the past into the present. I've always been a firm believer that these types of games should not be played at home. They have been diluted into modern society because of ease of access and availability because of modern devices. They belong in public gatherings.
We are working to create an Arcade Museum here in Bellingham. We need volunteers that have artistic and carpentry skills to help make arcade cabinets. And also to store the game at your home as it will belong to you. We would only use your created machine at our bi-monthly events to be held at Bellis Fair Mall starting in November 2021. These events will be fundraisers to help pay for classic arcade games for a future permanent arcade museum.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide materials for volunteers so the arcade game you make will be made at your expense. This is only for those that have a fascination for these games and want a place to go to play them in a public setting. These games can be made fairly inexpensively if you know what you're doing. An old computer monitor, some particle board/paint, and a $100 joystick pandora's box. There are many tutorials on Youtube. You will be paid for the use of the Arcade game you create. Artists are also needed to create standup cardboard signs to go in between the arcade games to comply with social distancing. These large creations will be video game characters or scenes.
We are also looking for people that actually own real arcade games to submit. The cost of the venue is extremely high to volunteerism would be appreciated.
thank you for listening.
