MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Presidents Day falls on Monday, Feb. 15 this year, and a variety of services will be closed in Manatee County on the day.
The federal holiday was originally established in 1885 to recognize President George Washington. Now known as Presidents Day as a way to honor all past and present presidents, it's celebrated on the third Monday of each February.
Here's a breakdown of how the holiday could impact your routine Monday.
City of Bradenton Government Offices: Administrative offices will be closed. Manatee County Government Offices: Administrative offices will be closed. Manatee County Public Schools: All schools and administrative offices will be closed. Downtown Central Library: Normally the only Manatee County library open on Mondays, this library will be closed in observance of King's birthday. Manatee County and Buffalo Creek Golf Courses: Open Monday. Manatee County's publicly owned parks, nature preserves and beaches: Open Monday. Post Offices: Closed Monday. State Courts: Closed Monday. Transportation:
Manatee County Area Transit, the Anna Maria Island Trolley and the Beach Express and the Beach ConneXion Shuttle will operate on normal daily routes. MCAT administrative offices will be closed. Trash and recycling:
There will be no trash collection Monday in Manatee County. Trash normally picked up on Mondays will be picked up Tuesday this week. There will be no trash collection Monday in the city of Bradenton. Trash normally picked up on Mondays will be picked up Tuesday this week. Tuesday's pick-up will be on Wednesday. Wednesday's recycling route will not be collected.
