Thieves Attempt Strong-Arm Carjacking In Westport: Police

WESTPORT, CT — Two men attempted to strong-arm a woman and steal her car Sunday evening in the parking lot of the Walgreens in the 800 block of the Post Road East, according to Westport police. No injuries were reported in the 6:30 p.m. attack, but the suspects rifled through her pockets during the incident. Police said the victim said she had just finished purchasing some items at the store and was about to get into her vehicle when a Toyota Rav 4 backed into the parking space next to her. According to Westport police, the Rav 4 had been reported stolen from Norwalk earlier on Sunday. "Two Black males exited the Toyota, approached the victim, and threatened to harm her if she did not turn over her keys and other personal property," Westport police said. "When the victim did not comply, the men began to rifle through her pockets. Unable to locate her keys or any other items of value the suspects fled the scene and were last seen heading towards I-95." Before the suspects fled the parking lot in the stolen Rav 4, a third man left Walgreens and jumped into the Toyota and left with them. The three suspects were described as Black and all were wearing black clothing, police said. They were also wearing coronavirus (COVID-19) style face masks. The incident remains under investigation.
