Press release from the City of Iowa City: February 13, 2021 On Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at approximately 7:54 p.m., Iowa City Police were called to an apartment in the 600 block of South Governor Street in Iowa City for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased adult male victim. A witness advised that three men entered the residence, shot the victim, and fled. The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, the Johnson County Attorney's Office, and the Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office. The victim has been identified, but the identity will not be released pending family notification and autopsy, which is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 15, 2021. There does not appear to be a safety threat to the general public at this time. Iowa City Police are asking for the public's help to identify anyone involved with this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Lt. Scott Gaarde at 319-356-5280. Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about this incident if an arrest is made.
