Shop Working Foreman, Diesel Mechanic (Springfield) (Eugene) Morris O. Nelson & Sons Trucking is seeking a SHOP WORKING FOREMAN, DIESEL MECHANIC (Springfield) (Eugene) to join our team. You will lead a team of 20+ employees on three separate working shifts and responsible for managing all of the current fleet of over 100 trucks for service and maintenance. Responsibilities include: 1) Oversee shop personal to include, tire, mechanic, lube, inventory and wrecker personnel. 2 ) Perform performance evaluations, wage increases, etc. Keep track and monitor employee overtime and fix time sheets and make sure they are correct. 3) Manage parts department. Keep track of inventory levels, pricing of parts etc. 4) Keep track of all warranty claims and recalls on equipment. Make sure policy help is applied for on some repairs when trucks are out of base warranty. 5) Work with Tyree oil; keep track of oil and lubrication stock and pricing. 6) Manage tire expenses, work with tire venders and watch monthly costs. 7) Enter all tow truck billings & make sure any outside billings are priced and done correctly. 8) Plan and manage truck repairs and maintenance including personnel job assignments, purchasing and parts required, and vendors. 9) Tracking parts and maintenance financials, to recommend when to rotate trucks out of fleet. 10) Work on trucks as needed, troubleshoot after treatment issues, software updates; work on engines or whatever needs to be done. 11) Working knowledge of the following software is helpful • Paccar - DAVIE4 & RMI • CUMMINS - Insite & quick serv • ESA • Bendix Acom • Eaton -Service Ranger 12) Go on service calls if needed. 13) Enter work orders 14) Perform job functions of a Heavy Equipment Journeyman Diesel Mechanic. 15) Take phone calls after hours and on weekends if issues come up. 16) Deal with broken down trucks and send out shop help or send trucks to shops for repair 17) Work with outside shops and dealerships and make sure any outside repairs are done correctly and charges are appropriate. 18) Work with Accounting/Finance department on truck costing and repair cost. Qualifications - At least 4 years’ relevant heavy equipment experience with trucks. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in diagnosing & repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical, air conditioning, air brakes, computer diagnostics & basic electrical wiring. Vocational or Technical certification preferred Working knowledge in the use of hand tools required Demonstrated ability to learn, and grow in position Dependable attendance Valid driver’s license, a CDL would be preferred.
