Description

The Terminal Operator’s primary responsibility is to safely and timely unload rail cars to various locations including trucks, other rail cars, or warehouse within the customer’s facility. It is expected that the Terminal Operator will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies. Essential Responsibilities: 1. Daily unloading and transfer of a variety of commodities ranging from food grade to hazardous materials 2. Fulfill daily workload and tasks delegated by manager/cross train as necessary 3. Enforces safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors to the facility 4. Maintains work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition 5. Maintains equipment and tools in a safe and proper working condition; notifies appropriate personnel and management of unsafe working conditions 6. Complete general tasks and additional work as stated by manager 7. Fill out paperwork thoroughly and accurately Supervision Received: Specific Direction: Follows established work procedures. Receives periodic checks for performance. Refers unique questions/conditions to immediate supervisor. Education & Experience: 1. High school diploma or GED equivalent 2. Valid Driver License Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 1. Ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies 2. Ability to perform work safely and productively 3. Capable of learning how to operate and maintain railcar/trans loading equipment (e.g. forklift, hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium sized equipment, etc.) 4. Ability and willingness to travel to other terminals to assist when necessary Core Competencies: 1.
