Description

Revive old paintings that seem destined for the recycle bin or stuck in limbo, watercolor and/or acrylic with Liz Walker We all have paintings (watercolors or acrylics--on paper or canvas) that seem destined for the recycle bin or stuck in limbo, but what if we could repurpose them and turn them into something completely different? Join Liz for this lively 3 hour acrylic painting workshop (via ZOOM) where she will demo (and you will paint along). Liz will provide ideas on how to successfully resolve color, shape and value issues as we rework our paintings. Topics covered include: • How to prepare your paper for acrylic painting • Retaining the “good parts”, while obscuring areas that aren’t working • Using collage and/or opaque pigments to change your painting • Subtle use of stencils/stamping to create unique patterns • The impact of adding line (either drawn, or scratched into paint) Supply List: Acrylic paints, brushes, and other supplies are required. You will be given a full supply list when you sign up. Be sure to have several old (failed) watercolor or acrylic paintings to work on—these can be on paper or canvas (11 x14” or smaller is preferable). Artist’s bio: Liz Walker is a marbling/acrylic painter in Portland, Oregon, who has achieved national recognition in publications and exhibits throughout the U.S. She began painting in watercolor in 1991 but in 2006, switched to acrylics, collage, and marbling to create her imaginative works. No matter what the medium, Liz’s favorite subject matter is fanciful people (mostly women) painted with bright colors and patterns, but she also paints pears, birds, and florals. Growing up in San Antonio, TX, Liz received a B.A. in Art from Trinity University. She has lived in the Portland, Oregon area for over 20 years. She has taught water media workshops throughout the Pacific Northwest and is a Signature member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS). Email [email protected] Website: www.lizwalkerart.com
