This post intended for those with elderly loved ones, or anyone concerned with immediate safety. Severe ICE and snow-storming predicted for this region TONIGHT. Please warn your elderly family members, friends, and neighbors. -That's all! but feel free to read on if you're saying to yourself "what's the big deal guy, I live in the northeast and it's crappy all winter"... ~Your loved ones thank you! ...Well, this is going to be the worst storm this winter yet, and today was the iciest day yet (True story, I operate a salt truck) before the storm has even hit.. I witnessed 2 elderly folks who had fallen this morning, one a guy in his 70s at the bottom of his driveway alone, freezing and helpless until I came along and almost split my head open trying to lift him up and back into the snow so he could struggle back to his house. Shortly after this I saw an elderly woman stunned and injured, waiting for an ambulance with a party of folks who had helped her. Surely many others fell this morning, some with worse outcomes.. So please be safe tomorrow, and give your elders a call, maybe a steady arm to hold, and a bag of rock salt if you're lucky enough to find a place that isn't sold out. ~
