Description

This half-day retreat held under the full moon is inspired by Pisces season. We offer a multi-sensory experience to awaken your intuition. Into the Waves is a multi-sensory, experiential learning retreat to awaken your intuition, imagination, and attunement to symbol. Inspired by the qualities of the astrological sign of Pisces, Into the Waves is an invitation to explore the part of you that is The Dreamer, The Mystic, & The Old Soul.Lagoon is a large warehouse studio space with lots of spaciousness, and we are limiting the event to 18 people to ensure everyone’s sense of safety. We will also be requiring negative test results the day before the event. During the sessions, masks will be optional but encouraged once everyone is seated at least six feet apart. While teaching, hosts will sit at least 6 feet away from everyone and guide with masks off in order to be understood and clearly heard. For most of the retreat, the group will be divided into three smaller groups in a rotation as another way we’re trying to keep people spread out. Between sessions and during the suminagashi art rotation, everyone will be encouraged to keep masks on. Into the Waves is a re-imagining of a multi-week local course co-created last year by astrologer and teacher (and multi-Pisces) Britten LaRue, artist-designer Angela George, & meditation coach/ dream tending specialist Shon MonDragon (and Pisces Sun). This year, Britten, Angela, & Shon are joined by master host Taylor Madison and sound bath & meditation artist (and multi-Pisces) Lauren Margolies to facilitate this experience with their unique gifts. The primary goal of the retreat is to provide a space away from the routine of life. Pisces represents what Overculture calls “useless” or “unproductive” time: daydreaming, zoning out, stream-of-consciousness writing, deep listening, flights of imagination, art-making, and altered states of consciousness. At Into the Waves, we will be offering you a chance to not only think about your connection to these themes intellectually, but to actually go there somatically. After a group discussion of Pisces themes, we will split into three groups for rotations of one hour each. In Britten’s group, she will lead an exploration of The Moon, the card associated with Pisces in the tarot, and she'll tell a story to open the imagination into Piscean realms. For Angela’s rotation, she will teach participants how to make a silk scarf with the suminagashi water paint technique we used for our workbook designs - you will get to keep your own scarf as a take-home! In this rotation, you will have the chance to grab a light dinner. And in Shon’s group, he will guide a discussion of how symbols show up in dreams, and take volunteers to explore your unique dream themes and translate the therapeutic messages. The group will come back together for the final hour to experience a sound bath meditation with Lauren on the Pisces-Virgo polarity, which will be especially resonant as it will be Full Moon in Virgo that weekend. Attunement to sound is very Piscean. Before departing, we will all go outside and enjoy the moon together, feeling its light envelop and nourish us after all of that yummy Piscean experiencing.
