Wimauma Man Dies After Car Crashes Into Clearwater Pond

CLEARWATER, FL — A 22-year-old Wimauma man died after his car crashed into a pond in Clearwater. According to Clearwater Police, the accident occurred just after 8 a.m. Saturday on State Road 580 just east of McMullen Road. The 2015 Toyota Camry was traveling west when it went out of control, hit a curb and veered into the pond. The car came to rest upside down in about 8 feet of water. Clearwater Fire & Rescue and the Safety Harbor Fire Department responded and removed the body of Luis Angel Alvarado Correa from the car. There were no other occupants.
