Description

Taryn Lambert successfully completed her Eagle Scout Board of Review. Taryn is one of the first girl Eagle Scouts in the Tri-Valley and a member of Troop 998G formed on February 1, 2019 and led by Scoutmaster Kimberly Carlson. The troop is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #6298. Many thanks to the VFW for their continued support of Scouting for both young men and young women. Due to Covid-19, the date of her official Eagle Court of honor will be determined later when gatherings are permitted. Taryn resides in Pleasanton, her parents are Ed and Kerry Lambert. A leader during her Scouting experience, Taryn served as Senior Patrol Leader, Scribe, Troop Guide and Patrol Leader. Senior Patrol Leader is the top youth leader of the troop, working directly with the Scoutmaster in leading the troop. She learned outdoor skills of camping, backpacking and emergency preparedness and made friendships that will last a lifetime. For her Eagle Scout Project she led a group in making over 70 handsewn double-layered face masks for the New Bridge Foundation. Volunteers cut fabric and elastic and worked to sew the masks. New Bridge Foundation is a non-profit addiction treatment facility, located in Berkeley, California, helping those addicted to substance abuse including alcohol and drugs by providing support and resources to make recovery possible. Eagle Scouts must plan, develop and give leadership to others in an Eagle Scout Service Project benefiting a religious institution, school or community group. In other activities outside Scouting, Taryn is the co-founder of "Bears That Care", an organization that collects and donates thousands of toys each year to the Alameda County Court Services. The toys are for children who come to the courthouse for custody hearings, who often feel sad and lonely. The idea came from her mom, Kerry Lambert, who works as a Child Protective Service court officer. Her co-founder is her brother Colin, who was a Walnut Grove Elementary student at the time, while Taryn was at Harvest Park Middle School. Taryn is currently a Junior at Amador Valley High School. Other interests include mountain biking, skiing, reading and cooking. Her future plans include attending a community college, transferring to a four-year college and majoring in psychology or political science. To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must be active in their troop, provide leadership, earn 21 merit badges including the areas of citizenship, camping, communications, cooking and lifesaving or emergency preparedness as well as demonstrate that they live by the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. Anyone interested in joining any level of Scouting can contact the Twin Valley District Executive, Matt Lindberg, [email protected].
