Join us for an evening under the stars with the 2004 epic, The Alamo. Watch from the comfort of your car. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and movie starts at 7:30 p.m.. Play Texas Trivia before the movie for a chance to win some special prizes from local Mesquite businesses. When: 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., March 20, 2021 at Opal Lawrence Historical Park, 711 E. Kearney. Tickets: $25 per car, concessions will also be available for purchase. Outside food is permitted, please consider supporting Historic Mesquite, Inc. by pre-ordering concessions. Alcohol is not permitted. We will follow health and safety protocols set by State and local authorities, to limit the spread of Covid-19. You must stay in your vehicle at all times, except to visit the restrooms. A face covering will be required to be worn when exiting your vehicle for any reason. Movie:The Alamo (2004), rated PG-13; In 1836 Gen. Sam Houston (Dennis Quaid) organizes a rebel army to liberate Texas from the brutal rule of Mexican dictator General Santa Anna (Emilio Echevarría). Though vastly outnumbered, Gen. Houston's volunteer army includes such folkloric figures as Jim Bowie (Jason Patric) and Davy Crockett (Billy Bob Thornton). As Santa Anna's forces advance on San Antonio, the legendary general and his men prepare for a final heroic standoff at a battle-worn mission called the Alamo. Rules for Participants: Please maintain social distancing. Upon arrival, the radio station frequency to listen to the movie from inside your car and instructions on how to join the trivia game will be provided. Please refrain from attending the screening if you are experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or any other symptoms associated with COVID-19, or if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. When entering, you must follow the guidance of our parking ushers. They are working to maintain social distance between cars, and your cooperation is needed when parking. If you must leave the park after the film has begun, please wait until intermission. For a contactless ticket transaction, and due to the capacity (number of tickets available) in our parking lot, we recommend purchasing advance tickets. You must watch the movie from within your vehicle. This can include sitting in the bed of a truck or the back of an open hatchback (hatchbacks must not be raised higher than your roofline). Lawn chairs, picnic blankets and any other external seating outside the vehicle is not allowed. Masks are required if you exit your vehicle for any reason, including going to the restroom. Guests must bring their own mask. Restroom capacity is limited to one person at a time, to maintain safe social distancing. Plan ahead. You must practice social distancing at all times when in the proximity of people outside your party. Do not roam or mingle with other groups. Outside food is permitted. Please consider supporting Historic Mesquite, Inc. by pre-ordering Movie Treats as an add-on to your ticket purchase. Concessions (snacks) will also be available to purchase on site. To aid us in providing contactless purchases, credit card only transactions are strongly encouraged. Alcohol will not be permitted. We appreciate your patience and understanding as you follow these rules to keep fellow guests, volunteers, and our staff safe. For the safety of everyone, these rules must be followed or you will be asked to leave without a refund.
