Tennessee Armed and Unarmed certification courses for licensed security guard Unarmed guard training covers orientation, legal powers and limitations of a security guard, emergency procedures, and general duties. Unarmed Guard Training: $60 Friday Night 5pm-9pm Armed guard training includes the topics in the unarmed guard training along with the additional requirements of weapons that are less than lethal, legal limitations of the use of a firearm, handing of a firearm, and safety and maintenance of firearms. Armed Guard Training: $160 Thursday Night 5:30pm-9:30pm AND Saturday 8am-4pm Every two years, the State of Tennessee requires armed security guard to recertify their armed guard course. In order to recertify, you only need to take the Saturday class.
