MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Earlier this week Mercer County announced it was putting on hold all municipally run COVID-19 vaccine clinics due to shortage of doses. Meanwhile, anxious residents continue to ask the same question: where can I get my COVID vaccine? Beginning Feb. 13 all clinics that were being held in Mercer County towns will be relocated to either the CURE Arena or Mercer County Community College site. New Jersey is slowly publicly listed COVID-19 vaccination sites. Some are accepting appointments directly, but some are not. But the state has suggested reaching out to those sites and seeing if getting an appointment is possible (see the area/county's list of vaccine sites below). Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said the state plans to increase the number of vaccination sites beyond 300. State officials have said the goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of the adult population by the spring. Gov. Phil Murphy announced that New Jersey has created a county-by-county vaccine hub that reports the number of immunizations across the state. (see our guide to the vaccination system below). This week, he said the number of vaccines coming to the state is set to grow. "We're expecting increasing deliveries of vaccines from the federal government for our megasites and other vaccination centers," he said. "As these deliveries increase, we'll be able to open more appointments and be in position to put our efforts into the next gear." Persichilli also said New Jersey currently doesn't have a lot of vaccine availability, but she expects that to change soon. The Biden administration has said that it plans to greatly expand the number of vaccine doses available to the American public. New Jersey recently expanded the list of eligible people, allowing police and fire professionals and people older than 65 to get the vaccine.
